Accessing JUNIQ Cloud Portal

The JUNIQ Cloud portal is an interactive, browser-based environment designed to provide access to quantum computing resources, HPC systems, and cloud infrastructure at Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) through JupyterLab.

Prerequisites

Before accessing the JUNIQ Cloud portal, ensure you have:

  1. JuDoor Account: An active JuDoor account.

How to Access JUNIQ Cloud and Launch JupyterLab

  1. Access the portal: Go to the JUNIQ Cloud portal at https://juniq.fz-juelich.de/hub/login and log in with your JuDoor credentials.
    • Select the Sign in with JSC Account option.
    • If prompted for the first time, allow JUNIQ data access from JuDoor.
  1. Start a new instance: Click on the New JupyterLab button.

  2. Select a configuration (flavour): Choose the desired system configuration for your JupyterLab instance (e.g. system type, compute resources, and environment settings).

  1. Launch the instance: Click on the Start button to launch your JupyterLab instance. Please wait for the server to start (this could take a few minutes).

At the end of this step, you will be redirected to your JupyterLab interface ready for interactive computing.

Platform Features

  • Persistent Storage: JSC-Cloud provides 25GB of persistent storage per user to safely store your code, notebooks, and datasets across sessions.
  • Pre-configured Software Environments: Includes the PyQuantum kernel with tools such as myQLM, Qiskit, D-Wave Ocean, and scientific computing libraries pre-installed.
  • GitLab Integration: Easily clone and synchronize your repositories or browse the JUNIQ quantum computing example notebooks directly from within JupyterLab.
  • Inherited Jupyter-JSC Features: JUNIQ Cloud is powered by Jupyter-JSC. Refer to the Jupyter-JSC Documentation for details on credits, two-factor authentication, and advanced usage.

Next Steps

Once your JupyterLab instance is running:

  1. Set up Qaptiva access for access to gate-based quantum computers, the Pasqal quantum simulator as well as several digital and analog quantum computer emulators
  2. Set up D-Wave access for quantum annealing
  3. Explore Quantum Computing Notebooks for hands-on examples and tutorials on different QPUs
  4. Learn about available features and resources
  5. JUNIQ Cloud is based on Jupyter JSC. Find more details on Jupyter JSC to explore features of JUNIQ Cloud not mentioned in this documentation.
